Not as dramatic as it first seems when you read the headline, but interesting nonetheless: -

If you fancy giving Betdaq a try download BetDaqAngel. It’s top notch trading software for Betdaq and it’s free. It received a major upgrade last year. Lots of clever features including an Excel link that allows you to trade multiple markets simultaneously from a spreadsheet.
Snooze to lose

I quite like novelty bets as they are difficult to price, but I missed this one yesterday. In hindsight an opportunity missed!

Ken Clarke netted a punter a decent return at 16/1 by officially / unofficially falling asleep during the budget speech yesterday. Some of these other more esoteric bets didn’t come in.

A mixed bag of results, but pretty good given the underlying weakness in core markets. Labrokes is still 3-4 times the size of Betfair depending on how you measure it.

Not much time to comment on the Ladbroke results but here they are.
An interesting graph in the presentation on UK race meetings that have been abandoned which just seems to be headed in one direction only!!! Your average Ladbrokes punter slaps less than a £10 on the counter per bet. I think this goes to highlight why Betfair will always struggle to reach this type of customer. Ladbrokes e-gaming division had a gross win of £172m vs. Betfair’s £239m. Overall Labrokes gross win is still significantly bigger than Betfair’s at £1.15bn.
Lack of draws hit Ladbrokes

Full management statement by clicking this link.
Ladbrokes reported 15% lower revenues. They blamed poor margins on horse racing and “exceptionally low” margins on football bets, due to the low number of Premier League draws. In the first 66 games in the Premier League season, only been four draws, just 6% of the total. This compares with the five-year average of 25%.
Ladbrokes are looking to cut their near on £1bn in debt by raising £275m from shareholders, cutting this years dividend and imposing a pay freeze.
