PS In light of the above, why not ring up Betfair and give them a telephone password, with instructions only to discuss your account with you in future when you've given them the password?

they already have security questions, which i have had to give the correct answers several times today, i would assume/hope thay would always go through the routine , ask the questions whether i ring them, they ring me, someone rings them pretending to me or they ring someone they assume to be me.

i dont think so jeff. but when the fraud people ring me back i will request a complete change of security questions and answers. thanks jeff good idea.

Excluding yourself from products you don't use is a great idea.

Just go to My Account, My Profile and click on the Edit Limits or Self Exclude link and follow from there.

It goes without saying I'm sure but make sure you read very carefully what you're agreeing to be excluded from and do it one thing at a time. On the main page there is the option which would exclude you from the entire site, not just the games etc, so be careful!

The max self exclusion is for 6 months but, you can request self exclusion for life to betfair support. I check my accounts once every 2-3 weeks, since 2009 I am still appearing self-exclude from poker and casino...good luck...

Slightly off topic but anyone who used to read John2E's blog will know that once you self exclude yourself then Betfair dont back down no matter how much pleading etc.
Its fair enough really, if you were a total addict and self excluded yourself then it would miss the point if you phoned them up a few months later and pleaded for a while only for them to then reenable your account!

just an update. all sorted out in on the sense that everything settled with betfair but, everyday since my account was accessed, some slag in lithuania as been trying to get into my account usually around 13:40ish, occasionally it would seem to be at random times but 13:40ish is the cowsons favourite time.

betfair are not concerned at all, nor my local police. even though i have the

no one will do anything or are concerned really.

i am now in the process of opening a new account as the slag or slags know my account user name, that’s half the equation (but not the password). according to betfair it is far too complicated just to simply change my user name why? the fella could not adequately explain.

so be careful, check regular to see who if anyone is trying to access your account, if it’s the same ip address several times there is a reasonable chance they may have your user name. and don’t leave large amounts in there, if you have no reason to.

Why not contact the Lithuanian Embassy?

If the local police in the hacker's area get a call from the country's foreign office, they might sit up and take notice...

I contacted BF regarding my rogue IP addresses, and they were surprisingly helpful and quick with responding.

With regards to your account though, I'm astonished that BF's security department are not concerned about somebody in Lithuania trying to access your account.
