I didn’t generate much commission for them back then and didn’t write articles, design software for use on Betfair or anything like that. The following year I also received a small gift, and so it continued. Calendars, playing cards and the odd email with seasonal greetings.

About four or five years ago (I can’t remember exactly when) this stopped abruptly and since then, not even an email to wish me a Merry Christmas."

In 2007 and 2008 I have recieved in my London Address a Harrods box containing a bottle of champagne and chocolate. Between July and October 2007 I have also recieved 4 free £500+50 entry to Poker tournaments. I am sure I must have recieved other things which I can`t remember at the moment.....

I joined Betfair in 2000 (5th Nov - I recently asked them when it was!) and remember getting the diary.

I thought the idea of exchange betting was fantastic (it still is a great idea!) - for years I recommended them to everyone I knew who liked a bet, even to complete strangers I talked to in the bookies during my lunch hour at work.

Companies change when they reach a certain size - the bean counters move in and think of every way possible to pay for their salary and for many more like them.

Not on the same exact subject, but I think today I was overcharged?

The numbers suggest betfair have estimated my P&L was about 29% higher then what it was in fact. Before I get in contact with them, is there anyone else having the same issue?

Edit: got it wrong, please ignore.

Could be worse, the tax man could also steal tax for the street lights and the roads. I get taxed regardless whether I make money or not!

Don't confuse the premium charge with a tax.

Tax raised by the exchequer does not line the pockets of wealthy shareholders.

Don't worry we all pay our share of taxes.

Yeah, i guess so, the old saying two things certain of in life, "taxes and death" ring so true to us all. Even to Gordon Gekko. http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Wall_Street_(film)

Don't be so sure:
