I'm aware of how betfair suspends football markets when there's been a goal, or a card it shown... but what about other sports?

Do tennis markets routinely get suspended in play? Or cricket? Or basketball?

Tennis markets remain open permanently which is why they have become a hotbed for people trading at the tournaments. Golf is also open-ended. Betfair tend to suspend football now if the ref farts, so it's it's become a bit more frequent there in recent years.

Basketball remains open, imagine if it didn't!

You said in another thread on the WC - forget which - that Betfair tends to be on their best behaviour when the markets are big, and that was spot on. VAR seemed to have gone without much trouble for the WC, but they went overboard, often suspending when the ball was just heading towards the goal, despite it clearly being a likely save.

Do we know why Betfair suspends in-play horse racing almost at the end of the race when 2 horses are fighting it out - then unsuspends and we see odds moving in slow-motion. Happens so often.

They suspend when the race is over but will re-open if there is a photo finish

It's pretty much exactly at the end, remember you're watching delayed pictures.
