After trading for a while on a race can I green up but only spread over a few horses and excluding a few no hopers?

The best way would be to dutch your profit. For example if you make £5 on an event then dutch £5 stake on the runners you wish to back.

Hi !

If you are really sure that you can rule out the possibility of a horse winning, you should just lay it. In reality there are no such things as "no-hopers" and one cannot disregard any of them. As the price of a horse shortens in a race , others may/will lengthen. A horse race is an incredibly complex event and it is not possible to deal with many runners at the same time effectively. A trader has the advantage that he can change his mind as the race is being run. A bet with conventional bookmakers does not allow any alternative to letting the race run its course. The initial position is all-important to the trader, and, however much others will try to counsel us, this is always a matter of pure luck, the more cocky will say "judgment". Picking the correct starting position always leads to a win. Acquired skills in trading may lead to smaller losses and possible wins from initial losing positions.

Cheers!
