Never been a fan of like for like cover versions , I always think what's the point when it's hard to better the original, freebird in this case not jump which no one cares about anyway I'm sure they'd be fine to listen to in a pub but at home you'd never put a straight copy cover version if you had the original, covers always remind me of those old Ronco presents or top of the pops albums they used to sell in the seventies.nigelk wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 8:10 pmCheck these guys out.

yeah, i personally prefer to hear a reworking of the original that marks the cover out as being an original in its own right. there are some great examples on YT of reworked covers that literally do stun with their originality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... 0qJdShOL_s
they do a nice daft punk medley too : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MteSlpxCpo cheesy (and definitely high camp) but niice - lol

I love Clarence Clearwater Revival, but this cover was not just a rework, it was much much better than the original.

Not sure about the best cover version but surely the WORST cover versions are pretty much every rendition of the American national anthem before a sporting event. That song has been butchered more often than ABBA's entire back catalogue

Wish I hadn't started looking at this thread now. On a slightly more serious note than Brett Domino.....
Jacob Collier has got some serious skills. https://youtu.be/9s1baxrxGHU?t=172
(the jazz guys here should like the arrangement and might already know him cos he's completely blown up lately)
