Saw Peter post a TED talk by this guy recently and just noticed the film that his talk was based on is on TV tonight:
Free Solo (2018) ★★★★☆
National Geographic, 8.00pm
Ascending alone and unassisted by ropes, but followed by a crack camera crew who fear for his life at every stage, intrepid climber Alex Honnold plots his defeat of Yosemite’s terrifying El Capitan rock face. This enthralling documentary, which has just won an Oscar, digs into the strange psychology of thrill-seeking. Watch it through your fingers.
Stuff to watch
(X-Post from this thread)
From what I remember the guy started dishing up on the pool table after a couple of pints and then gradually declined from there.
That show was a fantastic balance between learning and entertainment.

Reminds me of an old episode of Brainiac Science Abuse where they wanted to know: Does lager make you bad at sports?bennyboy351 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 7:49 pmI find a COUPLE of beers CAN help my decision-making process in a positive way; its the 3rd, 4th and 5th that bugger it all up! Going inplay is just like a position taking gambler chasing a loss, can't face a loss so think f@ck it. Nobody can help with that just yourself.

Numberphile YouTube channel made a video today where they ran a million simulated premiership seasons using just last year's results, nice little 12 min watch.

That one especially as it was pleasing to see Liverpool as the team to hold the top for the longest period from 79-94
