Just started to read (listen) to 'Money' by Rob Moore. Only an hour in but enjoying it thus far.
In a journey with my younger son this morning, he was talking about 'designer clothes' and how he would buy them 'if' he had the money. Whereas I would never buy such things even though I could afford to do so.
He upbringing is very different to mine, growing up there was never much money in my household and the odd holiday was probably North Wales. Not long haul five star hotels!
The early part of the book is about how your attitude to money is partially down to your upbringing and the paradigms you have about it.
Having a growth mindset is very important too..
I remember speaking to a multi millionaire and he said that he wished he had taken more risks earlier in his life and been less afraid to leveraged the banks willingness to lend..

Anyway, we will see how the book pans out... :D

Let us know what it is like when you finish it please Peter. Sounds like you should have sent your lad down the pit not taken him to Vegas in his formative years

I have the book called 'What I learned losing a Million Dollars' to read, it will be interesting to see what the author learned going from small beginnings to having it all to losing it all again. It came highly recommended as a read.

My last book above, got me hooked, so now reading:

Ghost In The Wires: My Adventures as the World's Most Wanted Hacker by Kevin Mitnik.
Just stated reading so haven't formed an opinion yet, however, almost by sheer coincident, my virus checker on my MacBook reported a Trojan yesterday morning (which was duly deleted automatically I hasten to add)...I didn't check it in depth, but It was some sort of screen sharing virus? It gives some peace of mind to know that my two step authentication is active...

Anyway, the reason I post this is to remind anyone who hasn't got two step - Just DO IT! :D
Im sure there are many out there looking to exploit...
Started reading this as well, really enjoying it, amazed at how the majority of the hacks revolve around social engineering.

I found this a bit of a slog Andy; Although I did finish it. it would be unfair to say I didn't learn anything, but not sure I'd recommend it.

Just started reading "Bad Blood" which you may find reading. I'm enjoying to so far.
Read by the same narrator as the Silk Road, so easy on the ears too!
It will certainly strike a chord with anyone who lives in the corporate world.. :)

Thanks for that Peter, given the amount of books on my list and given your feedback I will put it on the long list rather than the shortlist.

I have Bad Blood on my kindle to read, it is a story I followed via The Motley Fool who covered it in a lot of detail as it was happening on their various podcasts. Facinating stuff.

This was a recent podcast where they talked about it that might be of interest: https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/03/ ... ranos.aspx

For anyone reading this post today, there are 3 Michael Lewis Books on the Kindle Daily Deal that you might be interested in, they are:

Superforecasting as recommended by Peter is a very good read, or listen even.

Why we sleep by Matthew Walker...much more interesting than the title suggests..
Given we spend a third of our life in bed, its fascinating to find out what actually happens during those hours and the hours before and after...
Must be time for a nap...:-)

just finished reading *One day in September* by Simon Reeve. The story of the Munich Olympics massacre in 1972... great read and just shows that not a lot has changed in middle east/west politics in the intervening years:

Ive just started to read Dark Pools by Scott Patterson; Although Ive read flash boys I had a number of credits left of Audible and downloaded a bit hastily just before a flight...
I wasn't expecting a great deal, but the first few chapters were really interesting.
I know these boys are on a different scale that us on Betfair, but they still go through the same trials and tribulations as we do. They develop systems and if/when they ever stop, they go through exactly the same thought processes as many of us on here do...
The first few chapters mentioned Haim Bodek and it stuck a chord when they were taking about building a scalping BOT...
Anyway, I know a few on here would like this; Xitan, Linusp and a few others..
If nothing else, it gets the old grey matter working! Noting to lose!

Thx for the recommended, sounds good. I've always got unused Audible credits so it's as good as a freebie.

Recommended.
I've almost finished this on Audible and really enjoyed it. Great reminiscences for anyone involved in the business in the 80s and 90s (and 00s) and packed with ideas for strategies. Made me wish I could wind the clock back and appreciate the potential in all those interfaces I wrote for mysterious little exchanges I'd never heard of when I was a naive kid  Without the internet these things were hard to find out about unless you played golf with the right people, and I never did.
