Having recently upgraded to MS Office 2016, I can no longer open Excel Workbooks (including the supplied template BetAngel_1) from within Bet Angel. I get this error:
Unable to open Excel - Unable to cast COM object of type 'Excel.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Excel._Application'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{000208D5-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: Interface not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8004155).
Opening the same workbook in Bet Angel on a workstation running Excel 2010 shows no problems.
Can anybody suggest what is wrong? Thanks
Can't Open Workbook in Excel 2016
After a bit of research, I have sorted this issue out for myself.
For anybody else experiencing the same or similar problems, the cause of the failure is probably due to an Office Upgrade (in my case from Office 2013 to Office 2016) that didn't set the Registry values correctly. I resolved the problem by going to Control Panel - Programs and Features - Click on the version of Office (in my case Office 365), and then click the "Change" option at the top and going through the Repair procedure.
After that finished, I ensured that Excel 16 was the default program to open all types of spreadsheet document, and then the BetAngel Excel link worked as expected.
