Hi all, a little help please … is there a way for Excel to know how many places there are in a place market? At the moment I'm just rounding the Book% but I just wondered if the actual data is available somehow.
I think it's based on field size isn't it?firlandsfarm wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:46 amHi all, a little help please … is there a way for Excel to know how many places there are in a place market? At the moment I'm just rounding the Book% but I just wondered if the actual data is available somehow.

1-4 Runners – Win Only
5-7 Runners – 1/4 of the odds for the first two places
8+ Runners in a non-handicap – 1/5 of the odds for the first three places
12-15 Runners in a handicap – 1/4 of the odds for the first three places
16+ Runners in a handicap – 1/4 of the odds for the first four places

yes your definitions are correct but for Betfair it's the field size at Declarations, not the Off (as for bookies) so you could technically have a race with 5 runners and 4 places if it was a handicap race with 16+ runners declared but then 11 pull out! And if you look at the Betfair SP files for Places it does happen though perhaps not as drastic as that. The most frequent is when a race with 8 declared runners has 1 non-runner reducing the field to 7.
