With you on that, I have to stay completely off the internet and radio when the F1 is on so I can watch the channel 4 highlights.
yeah radio is the worst because it sneaks up on you. You get busy doing something, lil bit of background music on, get distracted, then boom. What you've been looking fwd to is ruined.

tbh these days the only interest is in who comes 2nd so I try not to get too upset when I hear "Lew......." before putting my fingers in my ears and going "la la la la la "... again !!!!!

Personally, I'd feel like the biggest idiot in the world watching a sporting event and not knowing the result when the rest of the world does!
I dont' like watching something if I know the result, without the "will they/won't they" tension it's just not the same.
I suppose I'm too used to reviewing racing videos and making notes back in my betting days. If I didn't know the result I'd find out first so I know what to look for. Reviewing and re-reviewing a 20-runner handicap with an interest in 6-8 horses was more of a chore than a pleasure. :)

I record the NFL games that I'm interested in watching and the golf if I'm not trading it just so I can fast forward through the adverts, very annoying when theres an ad break every 5 minutes.

In the case of golf there really should be a red button option to watch any group you want. They wouldn't lose out on advertising revenue because they could show ads when the group you're watching are between shots.

I remember the days when we had just 3 channels and commercial breaks were less than 2 minutes. Nowadays I fast-forward 5 minutes and it's still sometimes not enough.

I watched my first ever major Major League match the other night and the commentary was along the lines of......."Smith's passing today has been as silky smooth as the ice cream at Daisy's Yoghurt Outlet where you can buy one, get one free until next Friday."

I just gaped at my TV in astonishment.

That reminds me of when I first started betting on Betfair the first sport I punted on was basketball and you could go online and listen to the in-house commentary for the home team. Was lots of stuff like that.. Bills used cars and buy a mattress get a headboard for free at The Mattress King. i didnt make any money on basketball but the ads made me smile! :D

I can't believe the sheer stupidity of the guys who design these machines. 10 settings, each a non-adjustable 200 metres, limiting a programmed workout to just 2 kilometres!

Did you get a chance to watch all 11 seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm yet? Nearly every one of your posts sounds like an episode.

I recorded the first series on my Virgin Media box. The TV guide and VM box labelled the recordings as CYE but for some strange reason they contained 30 Rock instead!

Sports news annoys me. You want to watch things later and they start everything with "{name} won the XYZ today"
F1 is the worst. They never even say "Today at the XYZ Grand Prix...." so you have time to grab the mute button.

What happened to 'if you don't want to know the results ...." TV news you get some clue it's going to happen but Radio news just splurts it out.
The Likely Lads … Don't mention the score! :D

I'm getting sick of the number of people who come out of supermarkets and are too flipping lazy to drop their face mask in the bin, but leave it in the trolley. Then, nobody wants to use that trolley because it means removing a Covid-19 contaminated face mask so they just push it aside, along with another half-dozen orphan trolleys littering the entrance!

I got past the bag lady today, I brought my own bag, but she should be standing outside sorting out these lazy gits.

Its nice not to have that problem here in Stoke. The first time I went to the shop when it was suggested that masks should be worn, i was the only person in the shop without a mask and I could feel the eyes of others burning in my conciousness, but I go the shop now and its the complete reverse, there is usually 1 or 2 people wearing a mask and i I've seen people sniggering at them... like they were anti mask all along.

There are some some shops, like our local chip shop that put signs up asking for customers to wear masks, which is understandable, you have to wait 4 hours in a narrow line, double qued but other than that, nobody gives a flying fu*k around here.

Funny the difference from area to area, and probably says something to how we want to fit into the group or some other sociological theory that's beyond me - but I live not a lot further north and the non-mask wearers are probably outnumbered something like 10-1.

In Norfolk, wearers outnumber non-wearers by about 500 to 1. I've only seen two people in a shop not wearing a mask, not that I've been paying much attention.
