Alright, you guys have peaked my curiousity as a non-UK resident.....what exactly is a "surgery"? I know the word, but what is it in this context compared to the GP? Too generic a word for Google to be much help :)

Okay, that makes sense, thanks. I got the sense from some of the comments that it was a different place than the GP's. which is what threw me.

Don't mean this as a dig at England/UK, as I love the place like a second home, but these comments along with what I hear from English friends and read in the (online) papers makes me glad to be living in semi-communistic Denmark. Yeah, we pay taxes through the nose, but whenever anyone in my family or among friends have needed health care, it's always been above and beyond!

I'd like to flipping kill the idiot who came up with the idea of passing into law, that all websites have to request permission to store cookies!!!

What's the flipping point??? You can't use the WWW without allowing cookies!

I've just cleared my cookie cache and now I have to go through it all over again with each site I visit.

you've done your dosh if you got a tosh-iba.laptop.
Just discovered that they have walked away from any nonbusiness customers in 2016.
not only have they walked away, but they are giving you two fingers as they depart.
Just want a simple replacement part. CPU cooling fan.
Have spent the past five days trying to get a result.
If you go onto their website it just walks you round in circles.
Their Toshiba part site will load the shopping cart but won't complete.
Click on contact us, guess what comes up. Page not found.
any phone contact numbers are for business users only.
Finally bullied my way onto a connection with them.
Reply. Not my department, but I can try and get a message to IT.
Not holding my breath.

Did you buy it from a shop? I had similar situation few years ago with a hoover. I took it back to curry’s. Although I bought it 3/4 years earlier. Sorted, did take a bit of persuading though!

You were lucky. Curry's have an appealing customer service record. We got a TV from them about 3 yrs ago and it stopped working after 3 months. They kept insisting I went via the manufacturer which is totally in breach of consumer rights. The legal relationship is with the vendor.

They even gave me a number for their 'legal dept' which turned out to be a dud number and I was later told they don't even have one for customers.

I only got a refund after I went there on a busy Sunday and stood outside handing their TrustPilot report to everyone who came in the store. Within about 20mins I'd got my refund which I took to Richer Sounds who have always been first class.

I heard that app being talked about on More or Less. The rain %ages relate to the preceding hour not the one you'd expect. So if you want to know the chance of rain at 3:10 you look at the 4pm figure not the 3pm figure as most people would assume.

Pretty much everyone I know (who needs forecasts for more than a trivial check) and myself swear by www.yr.no

Haven't got the slighest if it's actually the best service anymore, but it was widely considered so at one point at least.

Co-incidentally that's the last film I watched, the 1980 version just a few weeks ago. As you can imagine I don't get much time to watch films and my TV's broke, but I've already ranted about that.

Come to think of it, it's about a year since my last successful past post bet. If the film's anything to go by it may be time for the victim of my immoral activities to extract revenge. :o

Toshiba follow-up.
Took to Twitter, which I've never used before.
Sent them a suitably abusive tweet.
Purely for the satisfaction of other people being able to read about how bad news they are.
Looked at their Twitter feed and there was nothing there.
Did you know that no tweets appear unless they reply to them.
Supposedly it's to prevent spam. Yeah right.
Now I understand why all companies Twitter accounts are just full of sweetness and light.
One result Is that their part site is now restarted and I was able to order.
The most galling thing about my treatment is that even if they didn't want to reply on Twitter.
They have my email address and could have sent a simple response.
Receive nothing to date

Just go next door, mate. Surely she owes a movie screening, with you TV broken, given you helped her out with her broken freezer. And nope, I'll never forget that story/rant; just too good

Weird one, couldn't say if it's a geo-lock and they only Scandi's to view the site.
