Hey All,
Hope you are well and had a good holiday season,
I was wondering if any members of the community had any interest in establishing a Bet Angel Discord Channel?
For those who don't know - Discord is a Voice and Text chat platform, it was originally aimed at gamers but has over time attracted a lot of different users, I use it a lot for Reddits /r/sportsbook community, which can be particularly helpful for trying to pick in play football trades (even if it is a bit over emotional).
It would allow traders to have casual discussion in between races (if they trade the horses) or share thoughts on football matches etc in play and could potentially help rookie traders find some success and understand the logic that is going into them.
A good example of what I'm thinking about (though not 1 to 1) is the whalepool teamspeak server - streamed on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtFt7DuZY-I
They often provide calls on potential price movements, but more interestingly look back at historical movements with a technical lens and show where the indicators were for price movements.
If there is any interest in this I will happily set up a server - if not no worries!
Is there any interest for a Betangel Discord Channel

Yeah I can see that being an issue - my understanding is there are certain moderation bots that will allow you a base level of automatic moderation (banned word list etc) there are also different levels of bans you can apply and things like that. You can also set up a moderation chat to afford users the facility to post screen shots of misbehavior within the channel.
Not trying to say any of this resolves the moderation issue however, it should help ease the burden a bit.
Another alternative would be to make it for subscribers only and password the channel - also make it so that only vetted people had access to the voice comms, as they are likely more abuse-able

what about free speech ? surely that should be paramount not banning words, and deciding who is acceptable and what is acceptable. if you applied your rules now, a large chunk of this forum would be banned or edited or censored.Explosivo945 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2017 1:15 pmYeah I can see that being an issue - my understanding is there are certain moderation bots that will allow you a base level of automatic moderation (banned word list etc) there are also different levels of bans you can apply and things like that. banning and censorship belongs in europe and russia and the 3rd world and china, not in the uk.
who decides who moderates who? what qualifies someone to sit in judgement and arbitrate on what is acceptable and who is acceptable?

Generally speaking, as a society we have sort of agreed upon terms that form the basis for what is an isn't acceptable....
As for the who moderates who, in circumstances like this you do. You chose to join this forum and participate in the conversations within and in doing so you accepted moderation from Peter and his moderation team... if this is something you disagree with you can choose not to partake and not be moderated.
I quite enjoyed Whalepool before it was inundated with newcomers who didn't possess the most basic grasp on technical analysis and yet frequently felt obliged to spout off their psychobabble BS. I put up with it for a while hoping that the quality would improve over time but at some point my ears just gave out.
Discord channel for sports trading is interesting. Albeit, given how small racing markets (in terms of liquidity) are, I have my reservations about creating one for it. Don't really want to elaborate on it but for the more experienced traders, some of the pitfalls should be obvious.
However, if you ever consider setting up a private discord channel for high stakes tennis traders only, let me know

Does Ruby fall off more often than he should at last fence?
Why have Sky written Dixie Deans 63 goals in the top flight year in 1927 out of the books and replaced it with Harry Kane 39 in 2017?
Ah surely we could have one Mod 24/7 to do it all. Sure Dallas can probably do it when he's not working on new autos' or servants!
I could just create a mod servantDublin_Flyer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2017 5:45 amBrexit

After looking at Discord it seems to be just another text and voice chat host? Or am I missing something. If you want one why don't you just set one up? Not really sure why you're asking for BA to be involved and have a moderator etc. I guess you need an invite to join a group (I wouldn't want to share my views with the world) so whoever controls that could presumably boot anyone out if they were unruly.

I use Discord for other reasons.
Very very good. And instant chat is always a plus from members online.
