I know the BSP is meant to be calculated based on the total layers / total backers (including anybody that has set open bets to take SP) but I notice quite often there's only a very small amount of money placed at BSP, meaning that even an additional £100 back bet would move the price wildly. This being the case, why do we never see a BSP wildly lower than the ISP, there must be occasions where there's a heavy BSP backer and no layers.
What am I missing here? Do Betfair do some kind of cross matching meaning the BSP levels out close to the mid point just before the off?
BSP
BSP consumes money on the exchange at the off, even if it's not set to take SP at the off, so you always get a decent price if there is plenty of liquidity in the market. See the link below.

Cheers Derek, didn't realise that. I've never had an open bet matched at the off if I've not set to take SP, but I guess this must happen.Derek27 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2018 2:29 pmBSP consumes money on the exchange at the off, even if it's not set to take SP at the off, so you always get a decent price if there is plenty of liquidity in the market.
