I am thinking about starting a syndicate and was wondering if any fellow forumer would be up for it.

With about 15 people we could get buy a fairly decent horse and pay training fees for a year for about 750 each.

Not sure how much people are making here but I’m sure their are a few who could.

Just think it would be a good idea.

Maybe we could get s bunch of us to get a horse than allow others to sign up for a smaller sum per month that is really affordable.

Anyone up for it?

Did you have a large G&T for breakfast ?

For a Flat horse the average cost was £22,595 and for a Jumps horse the average was £16,325 per ANNUM.

Plus It would be more like £5K each for any half decent horse.

Stable fees, Vet fees, Moving it around the country for races, Insurance, Registration fees, Training fees, legalities of setting up a syndicate, any winnings being paid out to members based on their initial investment etc etc.

Don't think this would start or end well. Who would choose the horse? What if someone didn't pay on time? What if someone wanted out early or even at the end of the year is up?

And I think you'd be looking at £1,250 per year with everything accounted for.

So, good idea when you're in the pub but in reality it'll create a lot more hassle and cost a lot more than anyone would want.

This has the look of another classic SHR thread ( tho the trading diary one would take some beating ).Its a nice thought, and always good to dream. But I agree with Betscapler the figure quoted just doesn’t add up, maybe when he gets his training licence ( I assume that’s still the plan?), he could offer the syndicate reduced rates? Plus syndicates rarely run smoothly, less so the successful ones.

Tho it is still possible to find a bargain, think Mrs Danvers could have been bought for £1000 and she has won nearly £200,000 and will have value as a broodmare.so it can happen.

That horse Mobius is offering looks a tad overweight and confirmation doesnt look right.Might jump a fence, but doubt even Willie Mullins would get a win out of it.Tho I’m guessing it would be in the SHR syndicates price range

Nevermind buying a horse, we should pool our money together and buy live GPS horse data, it would remove the need for fast pictures.

Syndicates your paying for someone else's dream. There is some well run syndicates, but being honest most trainers treat syndicate members as total idiots who just turn up with with polo's on the gallops every month or so. I was involved in a few years ago and its eye opening at times, remember a local trainer bragging when talking to my ex about how much a cast off from Stoute cost his former connections that he'd just acquired (Kingdom Of Dreams) had awful wind issues, but was talked up plenty and was overnight fav at Wetherby, remember it well as backed the winner that wasn't the stable runner!

Last syndicate was the best with Neil Mullholland with Rhinestone Ruby just a few involved, won at my local track with pretty much my house on it after being told point form was useless on the horse McCoy was riding. First race of the night was out of it hammered, worst state I've ever been an could handle my booze I thought! Remember winners enclosure and not a lot else after. Head down on a table owners bar... Still ashamed to this day as can normally always remember every boozy night. What a state must of looked a massive tramp, what's worse I stayed all night and got dropped off, still fuming at a mate that they never sent me home. Very costly and wouldn't do it again no matter what

Any idea how much it costs ? I’m sure there was a thread about it earlier and the answer was “ how much can you afford “

ATR publish the section data, sectional times , stride data etc in their results section ( supplied TPD),only available at certain courses.

Not sure it would be worth the outlay, depends how you interpreted it and how you would use it I guess

Nope.

In any case you’re right. This would only suit people with technical skills who can make sense of the data and build models.
