As for the headline
“Pessimism sells. For reasons I have never understood, people like to hear that the world is going to hell, and become huffy and scornful when some idiotic optimist intrudes on their pleasure.”
It reminds me of something I read years ago and at that time really struck me. It was something along the lines of a father saying to his son "don't you think it is arrogant to believe that for all the generations of men that have existed yours is the one with which it ends?"
