Today I read in my newspaper that ABN AMROs management had declined a raise of 100K. They did this because of pressure from the dutch citizens, who were encouraged by the politicians and left wing media to voice their outrage/jealousy.

ABN AMRO is a dutch bank that had to be be bailed out in 2008 by the tax payers. Nowadays, the bank is operating well again and there are plans for a 15 billion IPO. Although by now everybody should realize that the bankers themselves had hardly anything to with what caused '2008', for most people it's still the easiest way to remember. Let me be clear: ABN AMROs management remuneration had been cut by 50% after 2008, they had to pay additional taxes, up to 72% and had refused salary increases for the last 6 years. Now things are going well again thanks to their efforts and what do they get? The wrath of the nation.

I'm very worried about this breeding ground for mediocrity.
