Was wondering if there is any software out there that will match a particular back price inrunning

For example say I wanna back the first horse that hits 2.5 ...So I select odds 1.01 and odds 2.5 and place at 2.5...but the time betangel fires that rule into market its gone past that price bracket and unless bounces back up remains unmatched...

No, once the price has gone lower that 2.5 you will never get matched unless it rises again.
If it were possible, Id be posting this whilst drinking my morning coffee from my Italian villa overlooking Lake Garda! :D

Is it not possibly an in play delay on placing bets from Betfair and not the software being slow in firing the bet into the market that P1BP27 is referring to?

Well you always have the 1 second delay to contend with; but the way I read it was he wanted to back the first that reached 2.5 (assuming that it didnt start below that). Sometimes they bounce but often they go right past that and go on to win.
You could of course place a back bet at 1.01 and take pot luck on what you get matched at (I wouldnt recommend this!)

It can be done, just place a lay order of around 10k at 2.48 :D

But as Peter has said you can guarantee that your bet gets matched by placing at 1.01 but you won't be getting any value unless your at the track...
