One of the guys picked up on this start up that is offering a free flowing, non seeded, open matching engine. Basically what a betting exchange should be. Interesting stuff, worth keeping tabs on: -

Looks very promising until someone will do what they done to betfair. Restrict it, overcharge it, sell it - open another corporate monster. Cant wait for the day that we will be able to show middle finger to Betfair(they porobably gonna be safe for next 100 years as a bookie as WH is). Great post, as Im looking for alternatives too.

Cheers for that Peter, the concept of Augur alone blows my mind. It might only be my youthful exuberance but I'm extremely excited about this, it could potentially change everything, in our favor.

I think the future will be in some sort of Bitcoin based exchange
What would give this structure an advantage over existing exchanges is that the winner's bet could be paid immediately thus eliminating the need to keep a deposit with a sportsbook that could disappear if it ran into trouble.

Interesting how they call it a "prediction market" as its obviously a betting marketplace.

What are the opportunities for investing Augur, it reads rather complicated to me...

Has anyone here been successful at funding this? It's a cool concept but so far it's been tricky to get it working. They will need to make it more user friendly to say the least.

Already the demo site is full of exciting bets:

I don't know if these guys are the ones but a model like this will surely catch on sooner or later.

depending on your investment you'll get your share of the markets to supervise and report back the outcome. The amount of commission from that market will get split 50/50 with them.

I tried to invest 100quid but the hassle of crypto-currencies stopped me.

In the first two weeks of the sale, Augur raised more than $4.4 million USD in a combination of Bitcoin and ether, Ethereum’s own cryptocurrency, and saw more than 3,800 accounts created.

Went through the funding procedure but to be honest I couldn't make heads or tails of it. I might have committed to delivering 1000 ether, but have no idea how or when.

I always thought something like this would be introduced soon or later so let me see if I have understood correctly.
Euler and Me decide to play tennis, betangel open a market for it, let4tiss will act as a market maker accepting a % in commission. All the people on the forum will gamble on it and act as controller in case of corruption.
William hill, paddy power, coral, betfair etc will try to shut us down, they will finance political campaigns, politician will try to ban the platform but anable to shut us down as it is controlled by 10 million people around the world which cannot be traced because they use electronic currencys....
Is it correct or got it all wrong?

You read it here first :)

I'm planning on meeting the founders later in the year.
