Background.
Just acquired a new laptop.
Running Windows 8.1. Screen resolution 2560 x 1440.
I have always stuck with Windows 7 and so have no idea whether the problem is with Windows or the laptop.
I found Windows 8.1 a nightmare to get around.
I did change some of the display settings, so in case I have made a mistake there, I have since run refresh settings. This did not solve the problem.
Basically most of the colour format settings seem to have disappeared from the display. I first noticed this with my Excel files, which appeared completely in black and white only. Checked in format cells and all the colour settings were there, except they were not displaying.Have made new cell entries in these files, Set the colour formatting and again it only appears in black and white.
Have lowered the screen resolution but this does not change the look of the display.
Similar problem with browser / website display.
Have attached 2 screenshots To illustrate.
Old machine (Windows 7 64 bit)
new machine (Windows 8.1 64 bit)
Any suggestions ?
Regards
Sorry Loaded in the wrong order.
Top Screenshot is new machine with display problems.

Okay. Please cancel this request.
Somehow managed to get locked in something called high contrast.
Now changed and everything is looking normal.
Hope I have better luck with the Windows 10 upgrade.
Anyone have any experience good or bad with the previews they are offering ?
