A new version of Bet Angel is available: -

Download it from here: -

http://www.betangel.com/securedownloads ... _beta1.exe

This version adds support for Betfair's Exchange Streaming for prices and bet updates. The feature is switched off by default, but is activated by ticking the 'Use Exchange Streaming' box on the Communications page of the Bet Angel Settings window.

When Exchange Streaming is switched on, market price changes are pushed directly from betfair to your PC, so you'll be able to receive more updates per second than using the traditional 'polling' method of API usage. You'll find that new refresh rates are available in Guardian and on the main screen when streaming; going as fast as 20ms. These refresh rates control how fast you want the user interface to refresh with the latest prices received from betfair. At 20ms the ladder gets a bit manic, so you may wish to run the main screen a bit slower, but keep Guardian running at full pace. We see the biggest advantage of streaming is when using Automation in Guardian, you'll be able to run rules against dozens of markets every second!

Tick chart updates are capped at a maximum speed of every 100ms as they lose value and become too noisy when running any quicker.

A word of caution - Although we have been testing this version of Bet Angel for many weeks, it is still a beta. Much of the infrastructure of Bet Angel has been updated to take maximum advantage of streaming, but as such there is a risk that bugs still exist and will need to be fixed over the next few weeks. Please only use small stakes while gaining confidence in this version. If you find a bug, please submit a ticket to support in the normal way.
When streaming, your Profit and Loss values are calculated locally in Bet Angel based on the latest matched bet information received. If you are unsure about the current values at any time, you could either temporarily switch off streaming (to refresh using the normal API for a while) or refer to the same market on the betfair web site for confirmation.

Note: There is no harm in switching streaming on and off during a trading session if required, Bet Angel has been built to handle it and it will not cause a loss of information.

Great work! This has been waited and I hope I will get the bets better to match especially in play. I had totally different results earlier, when I was in test mode comparing into real mode. Thanks a lot BetAngel Team, I am willing to test this.

Will streaming incure extra costs like going over 20 calls per second?

No there'll be no extra costs; betfair prefer the use of streaming as it places less load on their servers than polling the API.

20ms.

Good for automation.

Manual - I wouldn't go below 200 ms. From eye to brain is approx 200 ms with another 100 - 200 ms for brain to action and then submit message to move index finger on mouse. All up 400 ms + for a human response.

Can this be tested/used on the servers ?

Do we un-install previous version etc, or does it over-write.

Thx

If you've got a Bet Angel VPS then use this link for the Server edition of the beta:

http://www.betangel.com/securedownloads ... _beta1.exe

The installation will overwrite the previous version, so no need to uninstall.

I made a few quid, scalpingpre-race .. and took the green, by clicking on the left col.

msg at bottom says .. Placing closing bet on ... then nothing.

I presume the horse name should show.

Thanks, we'll have a look at that. Did you notice what was written to the Log page of Bet Angel for that closure bet?

Great stuff - I've updated to v1.46.0 today and will advise if any untoward or adverse results are found.

I would love it if some In-play Trader updates could also be considered:

1) Could the selections be right justified from the winning post (would make choosing the correct selection/odds line easier in the heat of battle)

2) Could the selection be made to be 'active' with customisable odds integrated with Left click Back, Right-click Lay choice (you could choose custom odds for each selection - would make fastest finger opportunities easier)

3) Could the market selection order be customisable? (there are many markets I play that have selections in the list that CANNOT win ie they are not on the field of play) and as such get in the way of seeing the desired selection, at which time it's often then too late and the opportunity is missed.

If any of these haven't been explained well enough, please do ask :)

This is an interesting point. I spend quite a bit of time in practice mode, and even had my account restricted because of it. It was unblocked once i explained i was using bet angel and ive since increased my live trading activity (by a very small amount). Your comment suggests this version may suit my needs and reduce the likelyhood of me upsetting betfair. Would you agree with this assessment?

Kind Regards,

Peter
