I'm probably the only BA trader more interested in Southwell and Newcastle today!

Basically as a 6 month newbie Cheltenham markets just seem a little too dull and slow for me. My initial impression today is that Cheltenham seems perfect for the trader with a huge bank who can wait an hour for a £10000 offset trade to be matched. Sadly that isnt me this year at least but this time next year Rodney!

Cheltenham will be done and dusted by next week while the AW keeps going all year round so I consider studying and mastering the AW in play markets far more of a priority for me than Cheltenham.

You'll often get some good moves on the support cards during festival weeks

so it's pretty pointless then?

i finally got matched at 940k matched - 50k up from my placing point - even halved thats 25k.

just trying to understand the point of having it - is it just large meetings that screw it up?
I put a trade in on Kalashnikov earlier. Basically I noted trade volume on the ladder was 35K there was 7.5K waiting to be matched ahead of me and my trade was matched when it reached 50K so pretty much bang on what I expected. i.e. 35K starting point + 15K (ie 2 x 7.5K) = 50K. You have to watch the volume on the ladder point not the volume on the selection. Makes it hard to automate though with BA.

I'm in the same boat as you. Really excited at the thought of having a go at this. But I've not sure it's for me either.

Running the betfair and bet angel software together for the first time - 5 minute warning sounds like a slight echo :D

I managed an early £500 scalp on Getabird - it took about two hours for the money to get through the queue.
Took me 30 mins at 11am to get one through on Getabird... Strangely enough it was faster last night (albeit small stakes)...
Markets usually slow down after around 1am.

Noticed this (but only after you mentioned.) So could just be in my head.

Had a nice green but gave most of it back when things started moving a few minutes out

I couldn't resist a small last minute 'bet' on that, simply because I did a YTS straight from school at a placed called 'Summerville'

Footpad to drift here.

Interesting to see what happens on Rubys rides if Footpad is beating here.
