Was playing around live with £2 stakes yesterday in a tight and controlled manner.

Scalping nominated horses for 3 ticks at a time.

I would be interested if anyone makes good profits from this approach.

Thanks,

Mark

Problem with doing this inplay is that your risks and rewards might be a bit out of kilter.

So, lets say you do this 10 times. 8 times you make your 3 ticks. (If you're really good) = 24 ticks.

But, 2 times it goes completely wrong. The horse falls, the prices SPRINGS away from you, faster than you can respond. Do you lose more than the 24 ticks you've built up on your 8 winning trades? I'd suggest you probably would.

So, even if you can get a very, very high strike rate, if when you lose, you lose alot more than you win when you win, that's unprofitable.

My advise would be that you focus on:
- races longer than 1.2 miles
- scalp only 1 horse per race (usually favourite)
- total market value over 100k
- if it is race with jumps, scalp only between hurdles (to avoid losing if favourite falls on jump)
- analyse the history of the pace of the favourite
- do not scalp in aprox. last minute before the end line
- do not chase profits in each race
- do not enter the market before race starts
- set your goals. for example 5 - 10 percent profit/race
- enter the market only with backing (easier to control loses)
- divide your stacks to maximize profits/minimize loses
- do not scalp if live video of the race is to far behind

Good advice from Turki above.

To add:

Do use the in play trader tool in Bet Angel - very helpful.

If you open your position by laying, do it to a fixed liability to start with. You won't make as much but you don't run the risk of a big loss.

Be out of the race no later than half way through - the prices can get very volatile.

Hi Mark

You never did get back and explain in detail the systems you were trying to sell .. any chance of a detailed reply and why you chose to do it on this forum the way you did ?
