Hi,

Given the many horses available to trade on a days card would it make sense to only concentrate on the ones who have had the most volume traded before 11.00am, say >= £10K ?

Cheers,

... for races which start at 11.10, maybe :D

Money is traded at different times on different horses for different reasons.

Why limit yourself? If you want to narrow things down, there are better ways.

Given that things can (and do) change in the racing markets quite quickly, I would wait for the last 5 to 10 minutes and see what is happening then.

I choose traded before 11.00am as MATLAB seems to suggest there is a pattern based on how much money is traded on a selection based on MORNING_TRADED_VOL, MORNING_WAP and BSP.

I'm really interested in your attempts to find a pattern.

I'm not trying to be a dick, because I'm genuinely unsure. But are you sure there are patterns to be discovered?

Isn't the point that certain factors suggest that markets are likely to develop in certain ways, but might not?

You may well be correct.

I been looking at 12 months of BF data with MATLAB/PRTools. The good thing is you don't need to tell it what to look for. Obviously if you look hard enough then you can probably find a pattern to anything. I agree, most are meaningless.

But one pattern it chucked out was selections that have a high volume of turnover in the morning seem to subsequently have a higher turnover in the final 3 minutes before the off and as such has a bigger impact on the BSP. That maybe obvious to most but it makes automating a system that much easier, well for me anyway. :)

I am a strong believer that there is a pattern behind everything in life and if my arrest history is anything to go by then it confirms my conclusion.

So, if this is true (not saying it is) then one strategy to employ is backing the selection at 11.00am, backing it again at 5 mins before and closing both at BSP.

watch Peter’s videos & do enough research, you’ll discover patterns that repeat themselves religiously, there’s a lot of stuff on the internet that’s very useful don’t you know?

with regards the charts there are patterns within the markets but personally I don’t try & read too much into them 🤔, you’re best off viewing the movement over on the ladders
