Sad day the passing of a warrior!

Loved the horse and the owner behind it.

So many old star horses passing on.

Really sorry to hear that. One of just three to win two Hennessys and one of the greatest all-time Cheltenham Gold Cup performances.

Yep, very sad.

Not saying it wasn't but I hope he was put down for the right reasons (medically) and nothing todo with being a financial burden.

That horse won allot of money for its Owner, Trainer, Jockeys and the public around the globe.

PS. Yes I know Jockeys get a set fee but riding that horse brought further opportunities to all of them.

Thanks for posting that Derek. I feel better now, knowing it was for the right reason.

Appreciated.

Thanks for the comments. I was going through some old racing news from the late 80's and I remember a jump Jockey Paul Croucher who I was amazed at his riding skill.
He was tragically killed in a car accident very young I was 24 at the time.

I have many happy memories of trading races with Denman in them. But I'll always remember when he went off at 1.01 at Bangor back in 2006.

Going off a 1.01 was surely a mistake? Any idea what industry sp he was?

He didn't go off at 1.01, I just checked, not sure where Euler has got the idea he did. The industry SP was 1/12. Betfair SP was not launched in 2006. The early 1.01 money matched would have been due to the withdrawal of another runner and the RF causing those bets to have been 'matched' at 1.01.

He was matched around 1.10ish on the exchange at the off, but you see what I mean. He was matched at 1.01 before the off.

That graphic explains why it was so much easier back then to make money on Betfair. I can't imagine him trading at 1.01 if the race took place today.
