He didn't go off at 1.01, I just checked, not sure where Euler has got the idea he did. The industry SP was 1/12. Betfair SP was not launched in 2006. The early 1.01 money matched would have been due to the withdrawal of another runner and the RF causing those bets to have been 'matched' at 1.01.

He was matched around 1.10ish on the exchange at the off, but you see what I mean. He was matched at 1.01 before the off.

That graphic explains why it was so much easier back then to make money on Betfair. I can't imagine him trading at 1.01 if the race took place today.
