Racing UK to show a large amount of Irish racing online only?

The sport of kings.

Thought Sky Sports Racing was meant to be HD?

Still looks terrible
I'm getting all channels in HD today

Pretty clear where Irish racing stands in the pecking order after that, not even bothering with a split screen for Fairyhouse or telling people they are off and switching to it after 2 minutes has been run of the race. Death nail in the Irish IR coffin

Today's a bit of a one off to be fair, wall to wall racing every 5 minutes can't imagine anyone would be able to do it too well. Have to give them a few weeks to see how they adapt, be hard to imagine they could be any worse that ATR were.

I get today is a very unusual day in terms of how much racing is on but I really can't see why they can't put up a second screen like they always have done in the past. Doesn't really effect the enjoyment of the main race being shown, surely a better solution than just ignoring the irish meetings until they have finished with which ever UK race is on.

I'm looking to monitor SP to see how that changes as it 'feels' different today.

Can you let us know what you find, even if it is nothing. Not sure why the SP would have changed?

Not having the seconds on the clock on SSR is a pain and that whoosh as the race starts is going to become very annoying very quickly.
Whats that all about, pretty bizarre to leave the seconds off

Have had to dust of the binoculars in order to see the RTV clock it is so small now. Hopefully SSR will put the seconds back, think we all know if it is AM or PM so could ditch that part of the clock.

I'm coming down on the side of not liking this change at the moment. Very little coverage of clashing races so no idea what's happening on course, which is critical of course.

Hopefully now the busy New Years Day is out of the way we will see a vast improvement in the coverage on RTV as I thought yesterday's was an utter mess, at least 1 race was missed entirely, starts missed, joining races well over half way through, results not announced for ages, no indication of races about to start, presenters mixing up which course was being shown on the TV, on course pundits laughing at the fact they were expected to talk about their next race then cut short only moments later when they had to cut to another race starting.

The coverage received a lot of criticism online yesterday, deservedly imo, and especially in Ireland where their fears of playing second fiddle to UK racing was confirmed.

Hopefully things improve vastly going forward, the online RTV Extra is not the solution imo.

What did you find Peter and any theories? I can't say I noticed anything but that was just from watching it rather than analysing data.

If you are with Virgin or live in Ireland I understand it is still in SD and not HD.

I'm with Sky, a mate of mine asked them and said you need HD for all channels not just the Sports HD package, bit of a joke really why didn't they just say that to start with

The new slow mo finish replay on the AW tracks is very good on SSR.
