What are the pros/cons for an in-play trader of using streaming over polling?

The sport of kings.

Trialling it today and it certainly makes the ladders a bit more lively :) Would like to hear from anyone else who has made the switch, cheers

For example, I was switching between streaming/polling on the 16.25, flat at Epsom, to test the difference and the former made it almost untradable.

Won't make much difference to a manual trader, human reaction time when fully concentrating is around 200-300ms

Screen refresh is faster, but the bet submission api is still the same so that's unaffected.
With a normal human reaction time being iro 200ms I don't think it would make any practical difference.

Hmmm, is that true? The fact that the ladders are completely different when switching between the two suggests it makes a pretty significant difference to a manual trader.

For a pre-off trader seeing the markets refresh at a higher rate may give them a better feel for how/where prices are moving but no one can react as fast as 20ms to take advantage of something they see on a specific refresh

and that goes for in-play trading which your original question was about, when you see the market refresh and update the slowest part is your reaction time

No it's because I typed it, the kettle boiled, and I only remembered to hit send about 15mins later.
That makes my reaction time about 900,000ms
