Looks like we could be in for a prolonged cold snap, so here is a thread to keep people up to date on the impact on racing.

The Met Office forecast for the 30 days up to December 21 warns "the cold or very cold conditions are likely to continue" and "temperatures are likely to continue to be below or well below average, with widespread overnight frost, locally severe."

We had a frost over night in Manchester...but the sun is out and shining now and it seems quite mild! (mind you I am sitting in my nice warm office!) :D

Not suprised looking at the last picture here of the track:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-11837826

NEWCASTLE confirms Saturday's card, which was to have featured the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth, has been abandoned.

The course was hit with five inches of snow on Wednesday night and a bleak outlook was forecast.

Looks shocking as Towcester say they are very unlikely to race so will be left with:

Newbury 12.25 - 3.40
Kempton 2.10 - 5.20
Wolvs 5.50 - 9.20

So only a short period mid-afternoon where we actually have 2 meetings on at the same time
