It just shows that the only info the punters get is op 7/2, SP 9/2 on track. (Betting F/C was 6/4).
The Racing Post said "green to post" and with a tongue strap for its' debut, that probably would have done the trick!
One for the Lay to Back notebook me thinks... ;)

Predicting the SP of a Horse

Hello all,
I'm not new to racing or to using the spreadsheets function or guardian scripts - but something that eludes me still is how to predict with the 2 hours before a race what the SP of the horse will be.
Now I am guessing some people may have bots using scripts which collect data for early trading to see the overall direction of a horses price - and if you can predict the SP of a horse I guess if anyone does have a method of predicting this, then they would want to keep this firmly to themselves, as of course it is gold dust.
As the expression says 'don't tell me if it will win - tell me what the price will be!'

But I will put it out there as probably a niaive question. Has anyone done any work on a predictive tool using Bet Angel to predict what thwe SP of a horse will be?

Many thanks to Peter and all members of this community for a product which is simply incredible and best in its class.!

Hi Mark, you should really start a new thread for a new question.

There are many factors in horse racing outside price movement and data collection that affects a horses price, such as in the example above, a horse very green to post or playing up. No data analysis could detect that. Other examples are a trainer giving a positive or negative comment on TV about his horse or a conquer/stablemate of a runner flopping in another race. So it would be extremely difficult to predict with any accuracy a horse's starting price.
