Just heard the sad news on ATR that Jose Flores has died following his horrific fall at Parx on Monday.

i wonder if anyone can shed any light on this for me i was using the bookmaking tab on the 20:15 6f at chem and had a very strange result i greened up at £5.10 on betangel then noticed that i had in fact lost £25 i checked the bets on betfair and none of the odds matched with the odds shown in the betangel log by some margin, i checked the other races and they all matched with betfair except this race, any ideas anyone?

cheers

I would guess it's a result of Temeraire being withdrawn, which would result in a reduction factor of 25.8% being applied.

What was the average price that you laid it at?

One of the shortest bsps ever to lose.
From The Racng Post ...

Tree Of Liberty on Thursday equalled the unenviable record for the shortest-priced loser in British jump racing history when beaten at odds of 1-20 at Ludlow.

The Kerry Lee-trained chaser was unable to justify his prohibitive odds when going down to 20-1 chance Cap'N in a three-runner 2m novice contest.

The only other 1-20 jumping loser was the great Jerry M over fences at Newbury in 1909, when he fell in a two-horse race and was remounted to complete the course. He won the Grand National in 1912.

In defeat Tree Of Liberty became the shortest-priced loser of any race in Britain since Triple Dip on the all-weather at Lingfield in 2015, joining a band of nine others beaten 1-20 shots.

The record for the shortest-priced loser in British racing history is held by Royal Forest, a 1-25 shot who was second at Ascot in September 1948.

thanks for the replies i hadnt realised that a horse had been pulled, the betfair average odds were 3.32 and the average odds on betangel work out at 4.16

There can only be one average price - they should agree.

You need to be careful when bookmaking/dutching markets where the prices have changed considerably since your bets have been matched, as non-runners and reduction factors can easily screw-up a green book.

Thanks for the info Derek that must have been what happened as that was the only race where Betangel and Betfair didnt match, i suppose theres nothing i can do about that going forward as we have no control over it, it is a worry though if i was using bigger stakes it could have been a lot more!

A horse I think has been a non-trier, nice looking plan here today. 7.15 Elite Shadow. 22s. Crazy price.

I would argue his true chances at least 10% don't understand the 22.00 price.

First OR was 70. IMO moves like an 80 rated horse, Although the entire field is lightly raced he has an opening OR of a horse with ability. I am pretty certain he hasn't been trying at all yet.

Little bit more info re Elite Shadow ...third foal out of Silver Elite ( 3wins rated low 60's) , home breed and all three have been trained by Gay Kellaway. By Finjaan who was very speedy and dam won over 5/6f.Lightiy raced 4 yo half brother has shown promise in two races over a mile ( last ran in January ) but is by Mawatheeq, so bit more stamina there.

Form of last two races working out ok .. third in Newcastle race Wazim won yesterday on a mark of 69. Previously 2nd to Bungee Jump, who has since won at Lingfield off a mark of 76

As you know I'm a great believer in stable form and Gay Kellaways runners appear to be below form .. one win in 20 odd runners , winner back in January and a 4/9 fav beaten yesterday

Would be more interested in both Elite Shadow and Elite Treaty ( once handicapped ) if stable was in form .. but would take a leap of faith to see them achieving ratings of around 80

Trading at Lingfield is something I only do as a last resort - when all else is abandoned.

Not a bad day at Newbury.
