I know, it's so frustrating , it's about time the BHA started fining courses who continually go off late with no excuse. Newmarket, the so called home of racing, act as if they're some American course going off whenever they please.PDC wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 5:06 pmAmazing how Newbury have managed to get all the runner to start 5 minutes before the off for the last race of the day when it is home time for all the staff!
5 to 10 minutes late off all day and then surprise surprise last race of the day is 30 seconds late off. Joke!
Newbury also had 5 minutes more than the other courses between races today as well so no excuses. There are only a few presenters on the TV channels who pick up on it which doesn't help, today the only time Rishi noticed was when they were about 8 minutes late off and he put it down to the horse taking a while to load but they weren't even on the course at the off time.
It will become more of an issue when RUK have Irish racing as well as they don't wait normally for UK tracks so it will be split screen galore.
In Australia the courses would be absolutely slated by the presenters if they are more than a couple of minutes late off. Australia can have 9 race meetings on with 3-5minute gaps between races and rarely have clashes. We could learn a lot from down under, but of course we 'have the best in the business' in the UK as we are constantly told on TV.

I was once given privileged access at Newmarket 2 years ago which included a trip down to the start with the starter, one of the things I asked him about the loading and going off late etc - his response was that they really try to get them off on time and that there was even an unwritten contest goes on between starters all over as to who could get their races off nearest to post and that it was a matter of real pride to them to do so!spreadbetting wrote: ↑Thu Jun 14, 2018 6:08 pmI know, it's so frustrating , it's about time the BHA started fining courses who continually go off late with no excuse. both the early part of the chart and the rapid drift from 3.8 to 4.5 were very odd, shame it didn't run
