Winter: more likely for a price to shoot up 10-20 ticks very quickly, then revert back down just as fast.
Summer: more likely for a price to shoot up 10-20 ticks very quickly, then stay there or thereabouts.
Is this a recurring theme?
In the summer pre-race there are more things that can go wrong so you often get sudden movements, less so in the winter. Not sure if the retracement changes. I've not noticed that much, but can have a look.
My view on spikes is that sometimes they are unwarranted and I will sit on my hands. But if there are a couple of heavy orders in the market I may dump my position.

Placing £200 instead of £5 to get the live feed earlier by accident and it shooting off 7 ticks the wrong direction somes up my day today
sounds like me the last 2 days yesterday got hit by going inplay and lost most of my bank. start from what i had left which was like 40 quid and i worked bak up to just short of 75 quid. start today doing really well doubled the bank to 150 quid from trading 15 races. had to go out came back tried trading again and got hit with a horse going the opposite way to me like a fool didnt get out the market and lost the lot.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr i will master this trading

If you wanna get serious about trading and master it, don't risk massive percentages of your bank!caburch73 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 6:37 pmsounds like me the last 2 days yesterday got hit by going inplay and lost most of my bank. start from what i had left which was like 40 quid and i worked bak up to just short of 75 quid. start today doing really well doubled the bank to 150 quid from trading 15 races. had to go out came back tried trading again and got hit with a horse going the opposite way to me like a fool didnt get out the market and lost the lot.

Most traders will lose a small percentage of their bank on a bad day and win a small percentage on a good day. Risking more than half your bank is a recipe for disaster.
