Just seen that Betfair have released an excel to parse historical data, I haven’t used it but looks very handy as this seems to get asked a lot.

Thanks Linus for this info. Probably stupid question as you say you haven;t used it , but, can you search for player names in the data. I have installed and downloaded database but there are just a list of event ids. Would be great if you could search for a specific tennis match by player name but perhaps this isn't possible.

Thanks again for the information. it's really useful

Am waiting for the historic webste to be fixed, so, may as well see if this works, and do some pics.

If u download the Zip, u get these files :
Files in archive betfair free excel tool.jpg
The word doc is pretty good. here is a pic of the first 2 pages. 9i cant see to be able to upload a word doc)

Looking further, once u have logged on to the historic site, u can view remote data etc.

I cant get it to load into a sheet .. but, maybe thats becos the site is 'under water'
view of tool showing local data.jpg
view of tool showing remote purchases.jpg
Will try later .. does look promising.

I tried it too but couldn't open the CSV file because of various error messages e.g. "Couldn't load.....", "Not available on this machine" etc.

Think I'll go onto Freelancer and pay someone to send me a CSV file.

Is this logging into the API or just the historic data server, has anyone investigated the login code. Would be good to have a login routine for the API soley via excel. I haven't had time to download or look at it but probaby wouldn't be able to decode it if I did.

If you click on the 'View Local Data' button another navigation tree should appear from there you should be able to select a market and generate a 'graphic report' etc
