You would imagine there is some sort of symbiotic relationship between the Exchange and the Sportsbook from Betfairs point of view. I (am guessing) but they surely use the Exchange the hedge off their SB liabilities and because they won the exchange they can front run the market. So what I am trying to say is that they need the exchange imo

It's f*cking gone down again and I'm exposed this time!
That's why I was asking if there's any history of an outage immediately after an outage.
I'd expect outages to be most likely when there has been a recent one, with likelihood decaying slowly over time before turning at some point and begining to increase.

My guess is that even those in Malta typing up the apologies on twitter aren't informed very well internally either, don't think they're the ones to aim blame at if that's what anyone feels inclined to do.

Is Betfair no longer fit for purpose for traders ?
More likely some traders aren't fit for Betfair.
Hilariously accurate

Betfair have cocked up the league one playoff. Charlton scored late but the credited the goal the other way around.

Not sure how DownDetector works but Saturday's fiasco wasn't recorded on it!

Y, I spotted that. There was a huge peak on Saturday in their data so I automatically assumed it would appear in the history. Maybe it's not archived just yet?

Be aware it looks like Betfair had two markets running in parallel for the championship playoff today. So they have suspended one and are not allowing any further activity in that market. If you have an open position you may want to check it out.

There is a certain level it has to reach to be recorded as an outage and that level varies depending on (possibly the size of) the company, though you would have thought Saturday's outage should reach that level.

At least if they had a market on it you wouldn't have to worry about being left with an open position when it goes down.

They're recording whether the website is reachable. It doesn't iirc read whether it's the normal/ideal page reached. In other words, it doesn't count as down with them so long as the outage page, with a view of which products are running and which are down, is reachable.
