Just got an apology email from Betfair.
Well done, I contact somebody senior there during the crash. I've not had any correspondence about it, formally or informally. Classy.

Indeed. But it would be nice if it was correctly punctuated.
Yours pedantically........:-)

Maybe contacting someone bang in the middle of a crisis wasn't the optimum time, unless you knew how to fix it?
I'd always look more kindly on customers who waited until the dust had settled to talk. You know these people though, so I guess you know when they're most receptive.

At least emails can be answered when they choose. What gets me is when the railways are in turmoil and the station manager can't do anything to fix it because he's confronted by ten angry passengers!!

I told him I would follow up this week as he was probably busy, but just wanted to express my frustration and that of my customers.

I had this message waiting when logging into the website, guess it'll have gone on everyone's account. Sent sometime yesterday.

lol - the SAME issue. I guess that is a great get out clause. This time round, it was the cpu fan (i made that up) next time however, it could be worse - it could be the kettle fuse needs replacing and the server plug is in the closest *adaptor* to the kitchen!! :D

Some people are getting emails and gestures of goodwill.

I've got neither this, a message when I log in or anything. Absolutely jack from them, formally or informally. No emails, no explanations or advice to propagate out to my customers.

If it's any consolation, me neither, but could be something to do with spotting things early and stopping for the day. Anyone who was not so fortunate, or fortunate depending on results, probably got a kind message or compensation. I'm also still on the 2% option, so they probably think I'm happy as Harry and his jam roly polys...and yes I am...

I thought you were going to say you received some jam roly polys as a goodwill gesture!

I have a response from Betfair
Saturdays issue was the result of a technical problem with the application that we use to manage markets. The operators of the market management tools were receiving errors when attempting manage (activate, suspend, turn-play, & settle) so we made the decision to take down the Exchange while this was being investigated as a precautionary measure. Given the severity of the issue a detailed investigation is taking place to ensure that we can identify the root cause and prevent this from reoccurring in the future.

So they made a decision to take down the exchange!!!

If I understand correctly it wasn't beyond their control after all and they could have tried to issue a warning.
