is there a way you use a signal for a dog race whereby you identify the favourite, but depending on which trap it is in, you either back or lay it?

If you set a signal on each selection (1 for row 1, 2 for row 2 etc)
Then on your back and lay rules (which are applied to the fav) add a signal value condition

Ie, back bet if signal value is equal to 1
back if signal value is equal to 4
lay if signal value is equal to 2

Essentially backing if fav is in row 1 or 4 and laying if its in row 2

Adding a number of place bets triggered condition on market is equal to 0
will ensure only one of them triggers even if the fav changes afterwards

Not sure what you mean by 'the 4th favourite might not be trap 4?'

I thought you were only wanting to back or lay the fav depending on its trap number?

No, i am looking at a new strategy depending on certain distance of race. i have noticed on certain tracks depending on where the stalls are positioned for certain race distances that sometimes the dogs get crowded going into the first bend and a lot of bumping takes place.
Nowi dont know if all the tracks are the same width or if this is just a random thing.
I have noticed that trap 3 is the most vulnerable so i would be looking to lay, but if that trap is the favourite then i may be relutanct to lay and therefore look at backing providing it gets out cleanly.
Does that help you.

Betfair row 1 = trap 1
Betfair row 2 = trap 2 ect.

(historic relative odds) Then if row price is below 2nd fav.

I dont really think you need a signal for what your trying to do.

you can add a signal for reference if you like , Trap 1 ,trap 2 .The value does not matter unless your using it in another rule. If you put that signal into another rule then you would reference that value.

So if you set a signal on each in order of favouritism

ie,
Set/Modify signal rule applied to 'By position in (order of favouritism) 1
Set a signal on selection with a value of 1 (assume we name it 'order')

Set/Modify signal rule applied to 'By position in (order of favouritism) 2
Set a signal on selection with a value of 2 named 'order'

and so on....... until you have all 6

Then create a back bet rule applied to Betfair row 3
with a signal value condition
named 'order' equal to 1

Then create a lay bet rule also applied to row 3
with a signal value condition
named 'order' greater than 2

That would back the fav if in row 3
or lay the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th fav

You could also add a fixed odds cond to your lay rule so doesn't trigger when odds are to high

Would that work for you?

I have race by race data since May 2018, including race track, distance and Betfair best lay price for each dog at scheduled off time.

If you want me to run a search for you, just send me a pm.

Happy to help, just send me track/distance in a private message and I'll run the lay bet simulation for you.

Or alternatively, just write it here in public.

data mining.PNG
i spent most of last night data mining and found something incredible, i don't know why i didn't think of it sooner.

What i found in Belle Vue, they have had 1277 races from january until july.
Of those 1277 races this particular event has only happened 10 times.
That is a fantastic 99.22% effective.
I am going to data mine all the other tracks but i beleive it will be a similar story.
This is going to change how i automate greyhounds in the future.
Obviously i am not going to give any clues, but i am buiding a spreadsheet with all the information i have found.

Nose to the grindstone time for at least aweek to get all my data, but once my bot is in operation it will be on 24-7 every greyhound event around the world.

Doing Towcester Next, Following Same pattern. :D :D :D :D

think my light bulb moment has arrived after nearly 4 years,
