Very true. Coleman works for Wales largely due to him being Welsh. He understands the system, players and psyche etc.

Would be surprised if he can take that success to a club side.

Over-riding factors here probably come down to salary (Welsh FA don't have much to spend) and facilities/back-room staff that Coleman wants.

A big shame, especially with the new kids who've just started their international careers.

And yet more injury time points dropped for me so two kicks in the gut for me :(

So the Ponte Preta - Vitoria match from Brazil from last night was just plain bizarre! Ponte desperately needed to points to stay up, went ahead 2-0. They then had a player sent off for putting two fingers up the bum of an opponent (or at least trying to!) and proceeded to toss the lead

The match was called off in the 87th minute, or thereabouts, with the score 2-3, following crowd trouble. All bets were voided last night but that has now been reversed and settled. A - granted - quick search gave me nothing, as to what has changed. Anyone see something? I assume, it was decided to call the score at the time as the result.

It's not that I really have a stake in it. My interest is mostly knowing how BF operates with these sort of spots for future reference. It's well within BF's rubber paragraphs of the T&Cs. Just a strange spot, as I cannot recall this happening before. Holding off for some kind of official verdict before settling, yes, but not reversing a decision.

No matter what, a bad couple of days to be in Customer Service, as I'm sure they'll have had a ton of people from the sportsbook part on their case. First, one half of the money complaining yesterday that their bets didn't pay out with the match so close to the end, and now, the other half of the money being unhappy that money paid out as void as now been pulled. Lots of sportsbook accounts in minus, I'd suspect

Slutsky finally gone. Nice guy just too many awful decisions.

Adkins 1/4 to be next manager - wasn't he a Saints manager? Please tell me he's alright

Adkins was good for Saints... soon as we got back into premier league after back to back league promotions(because of him) they jocked him off...

Think Saints just wanted a bigger name at the time. Pochetinno they replaced him for and he never really did anything wrong I hope the guy gets to prove himself and gets credit he deserves.

A living legend - although he did have a killer squad at Saints: Lallana, Schneiderlin, Fonte, Lambert. I remember there were crazy outcries (& I was one of them!) when he was sacked to make way for Poch.

+1

Since saints he had a reading that was utter useless and Sheffield United. I hope he bounces back as a Saints fan we went from liquidation to premiership because of him. Although our results were not fantastic in the first few months in the premier league boy did we give the big clubs a run for their money. Remember sat in a bar in Amsterdam first game against Man City. Wish Saints had that way about them again. We slowly going back down to be a boring team who manages to survive relegation every season. Growing up as a kid we were always 15th or surviving regulation every year.

I think Cortese was more of a force than Adkins though IMHO. Cortese was the one who had the project mapped out, & I'm sure had he stayed, Shaw, Lallana, Poch etc wouldn't have jumped ship (at least so soon)

Pochetinno wasn't a big name back in those days! It was a gamble by Cortese to further the Saints project. Such a shame he left as well, Saints could have become a real force in the league (& that's why Poch joined in the first place) - now thanks to Katrina, we're just a load of average mercenaries.

Who really knows. Later results would suggest Southampton's squad was obviously too good for The Championship, but Adkins still had to get them to perform every week. Later results - and the players' performances, especially those moving on to other clubs - also seems to suggest that Poch got more out of them as a group, than should really be possible. Which is just one example of why I think way too much is made of past results, when clubs choose a manager. I actually think Allardyce is somewhat underrated - and misunderstood - but how he and handful other manager's keep getting jobs, I cannot understand. The point of a sacking surely is to get fresh input, so a combination of just that type of input in the manager's approach, and making sure the manager has a style and personality, which matches the club's squad etc. is more important than something a manager did in the 2008/2009 season. Kinda like Hull did with Silva, Soton did with Poch and Swansea did for a bit with Martinez, Rodgers and Laudrup. Huddersfield and Leeds also recent examples. If you wanna stay right where you are, then hire Pulis. If wanna move up in the (footballing) world, think outside of the box.

Besides it being anybody's guess, how it'll pan out, then gun to my head, I think Adkins is a bad choice and rather unspectacular. They did very well and nearly pulled it off with Silva, then Sluksky's been a disaster, which has caused them to panic and go back to Pulis-like choice, in fear of ending up like Wigan and Blackburn.

On another note. If you missed it.....the most incredible goal I can remember seeing for a long, long time. Given the context of it all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gWeq5abvlM

Sounds like he was a one club man, Sheff Utd fans saying he's the worst manager they've ever had Haha! Talks (apparently) with him have broken down anyway, even though good friends with the @sshole Allams.

Paul Lambert and Megson in the running now :?

Tbf anyone is better than Slutsky, just glad he's gone before I go again on the 23rd as we'd have stood no chance again Leeds!!
