Watched and backed the draw thank you for your tip. Was fretting a bit as did so just before the red card. Regret not taking a more ambitious position TBH

If you fancy this sort of thing, it's the final "regular season" matchday tonight in Italy's Serie B. The Cesena match is trading at about 1.79 for the draw and Venezia at 2.02. Like last night, I'm not convinced that a fix is in, but there'll definitely by a mutual understanding for the first one.
An important note here when looking at the table is that Italian football uses head2head before goal difference, so any number of scenarios could play out with two or more teams on the same number of points and be everchanging as the matches progress. I haven't delved too deeply into it (yet, maybe), but best as I can tell , 48 points will guarentee survival, as Ascoli and Brescia play each other and thus cannot both reach 48. Meaning a draw will do fine for both Cesena and Cremonese who have both been draw specialists this season anyway. The second one is a stranger one. Venezia can overtake Palermo (but not Parma), so they won't necessarily play for a draw. If Palermo does take a comfortable lead, it might change though, with Venezia conserving energy for a season extended by 2-4 matches and Pescara only needing a draw.

1.72 is so unusually low - must be some kind of mutual understanding as you say. Makes sense if you think that Italian/SA teams wouldn't really think of mutually agreeing to play for a draw as being dishonourable (as we would perhaps).Kafkaesque wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 11:47 amIf you fancy this sort of thing, it's the final "regular season" matchday tonight in Italy's Serie B. Big case rolling in Belgium, followed by a suspicions on the PSG - Red Star Champions League match. People are what they are, and I'm sure there'll still be no end in sight for the money rolling in betting world. But you do have to wonder how much of this the sport can take, before the credibility is shot. Especially with the biggest tournament bar the WC is involved.
Of course the Tour de France survived next to every participant cheating for a decade plus, so what do I know

At this point, who knows how deep it runs, but I cannot possibly think that anyone at PSG would be on the take. They were completely outclassed fair and sqaure and looked distraught as it played out. Add that everyone of those players earns more money than they know what to do with. Why would they throw such a monumental match, when it's what they've been training for since they were a kid, for a bit more cash? All actual cases are teams going nowhere or close to it, with players never going to earn really big money.
It has made me cynical though. A few years ago I would just have thought, upsets happen and what a great result for Gibraltar. Now though, seeing those amateur players sneak a 1-0 win away, makes me go hmmm. Armenia looked lethargic to say the least and casual when finishing the many chances they had. And this pen, oh dear!

PSG does not have to have been involved. But maybe Red Star, or certain Red Star players, could have let a few more goals go in than, what would be expected.
Maybe match fixing does not have to be a team job. Maybe one player can sometimes suffice?
Also the players involved does not have to have been motivated by a money-bribe. Maybe personal black mail and threats as has been seen in tennis can sometimes suffice.
It surpasses any logic that an official bet against his own team with those figures and on such an odd result.
(Another thing, is the complete lack of morals in betting against your own team. How interested has this official been in doing a good job, so that his team could do as good as possible? )
Even though PSG clearly was the favourite I wonder what was the implied chances for precisely a 6-1 in that match.

I was responding to JTEDL thinking something dodgy going on in the PSG tie against Barca, NOT the current case. In that one, I assume that any and all suspicion is and will be with one or more Red Star players, not the PSG players.Copenhagen trader wrote: ↑Sun Oct 14, 2018 6:18 pmPSG does not have to have been involved.
