Goals Mid Trade

I have been trading horse racing quite successfully for around 5 years now. Never gone full time as my work allows me to do both.

I have never traded football with any real conviction but with the World Cup soon approaching I'm thinking about getting involved.

My major concern is a goal being scored mid trade. This is probably a basic question I'm asking but I would really like to know football traders thoughts. (maybe I can trade football trading advice for horse racing advice)
Are goals mid trade a major downside to football trading?
Can the risk be managed?
Does it equal itself out with goals going against the trade and goals going in favor of the trade?
