Rain on caly means the balls will pick up water and they'll be come heavy. Slows the ball down even more and it's much harder to hit winners.

Just switched on the tv for the match with Kiki Bertens. First thing I noticed was the empty seats. Is it because of the strikes? I feel a rant coming up but I'll suppress it

It's been rare to see a moderately full stadium

Really? I was there a couple of years ago, it was packed. That was half way the tournament, maybe that makes a difference.

Must say I enjoyed it very much, still want to go back one day. Will require some planning to avoid the strikes

I also wonder if some Parisians still have concerns about terrorism, and worried that a packed RG could be a target

Have a look at the Williams match now, empty. Though it's notable that it's mainly the lower section that is completely empty, the middle and upper sections are just pretty sparse.
