It was, so I eat humble pie at his performance at the grand slams this year, oh hold on....

But seriously, he is still in decline on many levels, apart from ranking points it seems.

Well I suppose to use some football terminology " the league doesn't lie "
And at the end of this year the league says he is the worlds 2nd best player.

Not bad for an old man. It seems the normal serious decline or retirement at 32 simply doesn't apply to the top 1% of the top 1%

Just look at Serinna.................

He has beaten Ferrer and Berdych in tour finals but not much else this year: -

I think his ranking points are a bit flattering so I'm happy to continue oppose him.

He is a true legend though, no doubt of his ability.

His career feels a bit like Agassi who went on for ages. Connor did as well, but a different era and player.

Novak looks simply unstoppable. It seems certain he will make the final and it will be fasinating to see if Federer can make it a contest if he gets to play him.

Would be a great final at this moment in time.

Federer retires before hitting a ball in the World tour finals.

Too risky at my age, were his exact words.

Doubt Fed will recover in time for the Davis Cup Final showdown with France. Whole Swiss team in ruins. What a shame.

Yeah I saw that

Having said that though, Wawrinka definitely looked pissed off about something during the match, and according to the commentary team was gesturing towards Federer's camp.

So, there's clearly something in this story
