They use a DDOS prevention service now anyhow as the traffic bounces off that before ending up at Betfair. So I don't think it's that.

Just visited the helpdesk to see if there's any explanation on offer. The most important news they have is: "Find out how to log in easier and quicker using Touch ID. Give it a go."

My money is on it being something central (account / balance) thats where the errors seem to have originated from and then it spread to everything, don't think it was DDOS as the site was happily serving traffic before they added the maintenance banner.
Today was cash race payment day, perhaps an issue caused by that?

I did a bit of trading in the US and I'm now in Australia. Everything appears to be running smoothly but in the absence of any explanation from Betfair regarding what went wrong, I'm not looking forward to getting stuck into Ascot tomorrow.

I got sweet FA.

Not an email/not a free bet/not a pat on the head.

I did get, a tweet saying, how everything was now fixed, and was I happy.

I did reply.

I had a message from them today. They assured me this particular error will not occur again.

I managed to dodgy a bullet yesterday and had no positions open at the time. But would prefer Betfair to void all markets when there is an outage. They should lose money during an outage, not make more!

It would be utterly scandalous to void perfectly valid bets placed earlier in the day.

+1

A 7 hr ckt game, is 3 hrs in .. everything fine.

Betfair goes down .. u cant seriously want to void all bets, prior to outage.

Why don't all users get these messages? Seems to be you have to be a family friend to find out what's going on.

Exactly what I was thinking. Besides, you can't have much confidence that it won't happen again unless they give a bit more detail as to what the error was.

Guys - Can I suggest that this thread is only used when there is an actual site crash, to avoid people getting palpitations or just wasting their time every time a post is added? :)
