Excel unstable

this has been happening for a long time.
I suspect that it has something to do with the 2 XL add-ins that I use.
Have tried turning them off and it seems to be more stable, but I have never stuck with it long enough
because it's a nightmare without the add-ins.
When I look at task manager, simple tasks such as saving the file can jump the CPU usage to over 40%
but this is only very brief and quickly returns to very low CPU usage.
I am now in the regular habit of watching the task manager, because even 2 tasks (e.g. copy / insert )
if done too quickly somehow causes the CPU usage for Excel to lock out at around 20/30% and Excel becomes unresponsive and I have to restart it.
My laptop should be fine for this work. i7, 8 GB, 256 SSD.
the Excel worksheet in question is a pivot table with currently approximately 30,000 rows and 60 columns.
Anyway to get to the nitty-gritty of my question.
I am asking this in hope rather than expectation.
I am currently using Microsoft office 2013 / home and business / stand-alone and not signed in to one drive et cetera.
Is there likely to be any difference in Excel performance if I upgraded to office 2016 or office 365 ?
I have spoken to both the third-party software add-ins.
Each claim that their add-in works fine with all current office versions.

I think the answer is going to be no. Although it changes with each release and newer things are added, performance wise it won't make much of a difference. Take the old sumproduct function, very resource hungry, the modern equivalent sumif is stll much the same. New versions contain over 1,000,000 rows. Ever tried to work with a spreadsheet that size? Go and have dinner while it's doing it's thing.

However, saying all that have you tried Power Pivot, supposed to handle large amount of data with considerable ease.

Forgot to say that you can disable/enable add ins as and when you want.

thank you.
I was aware of the disable/enable of add-ins.
But would rather defeat the purpose of the way I use Excel and make entries.
Just for the record. The 2 addins are Kutools and Dragon.
have tried to take a quick look at power pivot online.
Looks way more complicated than I could probably handle.
Most of my initial date is entered manually in the worksheet.
Many thanks. Think I will just have to plug on.
