Sleep, Aging, Disease, Death etc, all these things are getting in the way of our personal development. We need to get rid of all of them.Euler wrote:I've always viewed sleep as an important function else nature wouldn't require it! Danny, Withnail & IYou have done something to your brain. You have made it high. If I lay 10 mils of diazepam on you, it will do something else to your brain. You will make it low. Why trust one drug and not the other? That's politics, innit?
(one of the best British films ever made http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Withnail_and_I).
if you do try these pills. let someone know who is sensible just in case you have a bad reaction. let someone check up on you periodically once you have taken the thing.superfrank wrote: i think one should try everything once! i might give them a go!
discipline has always been my achilles heel, i'm pretty disciplined at financial trading but i do sometimes get caught up in the heat of the moment on the horses (it's got much better, but i know i've still got some recklessness in me). is that just me?
.
as for discipline i personally think its just emotions you have little control over that are in charge of your mind at any given time.
the only way i have found that is successful (for me), is to be aware of what causes you as individual to take silly risks, and then avoid getting into a situation where your emotions can get the upper hand, either using ba's features to automatically perform some action and or, you sense/feel you are "slipping" or the market is "shaped" in such a way that it is likely to "trigger" an emotion that will cause you to act in a stupid way.

You hear about people buying prescription drugs online, and ending up taking something that makes them sterile or lose their hair!

no am not gonna take them, but might consider trying if they were properly tested and licenced.
Like anything else, these are a tool [for non-medically prescribed people - not narcolepsy...]. They can be used and abused. Wish to gain some focus and the ability to go without sleep for a while then try them. Just be sure to eat enough and drink enough water. Also avoid excessive caffeine. Clearly if you attempt to string together too many days without sleep you will suffer. I view these sorts of things similar to caffeine. You cannot increase total 'energy' however you can concentrate it just now and stay awake longer just expect there to be a crash where you have to 'payback' the sleep you missed.
For something less extreme look into 'nootropics' such as the racetrams and DMAE.

Thats why we're eliminating it.Euler wrote:You know death is bloody annoying
ScienceDaily (Nov. 3, 2011) — Scientists have recently succeeded in rejuvenating cells from elderly donors (aged over 100). These old cells were reprogrammed in vitro to induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and to rejuvenated and human embryonic stem cells (hESC): cells of all types can again be differentiated after this genuine "rejuvenation" therapy.
"Our strategy worked on cells taken from donors in their 100s. The age of cells is definitely not a reprogramming barrier."

I would not take the observations of a few self-selecting students as gospel. Who knows what else they were taking in tandem: booze for sure.
I have researched these drugs before and taken correctly they do work. Among other groups, they are given to armed forces units, including UK, to keep the guys alert on long jobs. The side effects do not seem to be very serious.
I live on the Spanish border in South West France. It should be easy enough to get them in a Spanish Pharmacia.
I will keep you posted!

I think there's also a lot to be said for getting a natural high from simple things like being passionate about whatever you do and living in the now, rather than worrying about the past or the future.

I actually asked my doctor about modofinil, as I've been having insomnia recently. He said it was a psycho-stimulant, and basically worked the same way ecstacy works! He was (surprise surprise!) unwilling to prescribe it to me, saying he'd only consider prescribing it for a patient who was suffering from narcolepsy (falling asleep during the day)!

Not that I would condone such behaviour but I believe modalert / modafinil can be bought through google very easily in the UK.
