Using Custom Rankings Facility

I thought I would play around with Custom Rankings for the first time this morning but I'm getting (what to me are) weird results!

I attach a trimmed down baf with a rule for just the Custom Ranking that is producing these results.

Example: for R5 (09:02) at Bathurst this morning it returned:-

Why is Sabella Shannon Ranked '0' and the 7th ranked is missing. That's where Sabella Shannon should be. The rankings returned for all events by this simple rule all seem to have Rank '0' out of place and the Rank where it should be is omitted (as is No. 7 in this example). This result was achieved on a 40ms setting as I wondered if there might be a speed issue when on 20ms. Mindful of the need to capture all values as close to at the same time as possible I'm reluctant to increase the refresh interval but have just tried one at 100ms that returned the same issue.

I have not used the Custom Ranking facility before ... have I set it up wrong?

I never have SV`s within a Custom Rank rule so that could be the issue. Have sent you a rule I use.

Will be interested to see your file Atho, putting the rankings into SV's was the only way I could see to do it!

You have the ranking stored value placed before the volume stored value on the SV tab
Stored value are processed in the order they appear

Also if it were me I'd use a set/modify stored value rule applied to every selection to store the Traded Volume
Then add a 'Update Custom Ranking' rule below it so you know the Stored values are already there and able to be sorted

Spoke too soon!

Trying to expand this new found skill to ID Drifters and Steamers for onward processing and not getting what I expected! (The rules file is below). The problem is it's only ranking all movements occasionally more often it 'misses' some. The rules gather the LTP at 11:00 each morning (UK and Ireland only), 1 hour before the Off and at the scheduled Off. It then calculates the movement between 11:00 - Off and 1 hour - Off, both ascending and descending to ID biggest steamer and biggest drifter.

OK, so Cinque Verde and Kensington Agent became non-runners but of the remaining 5, Premier Beauty is always ranked "0" for all 4 categories (impossible) and some ranking orders are missing! I can't see that it's a sequencing problem like before because each task is completed 2 seconds before the next and then the ranking starts a further 2 seconds later.

Any thoughts please.

Try this, I have added separate rules to rank the Svs and removed the signals. Hopefully you’ll get better results.

Thanks Dabbla, will give it a try. From what I see it looks like I shouldn't allocate the custom ranking and store the rank as an SV in the same rule ... I need to split it into 2 separate rules! Good to know, thanks again.

I’m pretty sure the SVs don’t rank correctly, if there on the same rule that’s ranking them.
It was either that or the way you had set up the signals causing the issue, or more likely a combination of both.

I used the Signal with an Any Selection because Every didn't want to play with the rule I had ... anyway it seems to be capturing the data thanks, now I just got to work out what to do with it! Thanks again.
