That is why you won't see womens games being played ahead of mens games, totally different audience.
I havent watched much of the Euro's until now but its nice to see all the little girls in the crowd smiling away. If this was mens football it would be some little prick giving the finger to the camera while his dad stood there proudly.
In that entire game I can't say I saw simulation. It was just an honest contest. This is a Euro semi-final. Great, just great!Trader Pat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 10:05 pmThat is why you won't see womens games being played ahead of mens games, totally different audience.

It's early days, female football hooliganism hasn't had time to establish.Trader Pat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 10:21 pmNo intimidating the ref... no handbags either (no pun intended)
There might be a bit more needle for the final though

I've been searching for the incident but can't find it. I was quite young so it feels 78ish, but the 78 WC finals didn't have a knockout stage so there wouldn't have been ET or penalties. I didn't watch WC82, I would have been in my bedroom studying the form or compiling race ratings.Korattt wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 9:00 pmthink you mean Schumacher on Battison WC Spain ‘82, absolute shocker of a challenge

All I can remember is it was a WC match, a forward streaking through his opponent's half on his own, nobody could stop him except the goalie, who sprinted out of his area towards the forward, forward tries to go around him, goalie dives and wraps his arms around the forward's legs and brings him down, blatantly, without any pretence of an accident, so I'd presume it was the latter stages of ET.
I very vaguely remember the goalie being Brazil and France going on to win on penalties but I could be wrong on both counts.
If anyone remembers such an incident, I'd really love to see that again. It must have been one of the best professional fouls ever (without breaking bones).
