you should have a back up internet connection (3g) because as you said "it can happen"ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 3:31 pmouch ouch ouch ouch ouch.
Lost my internet at EXACTLY the wrong moment and of course it went against me. I know most of you don't give a damn but sharing my pain might just remind a few people to be mindful that it can happen. For once I hadn't got my closing positions sat there at 'take sp'. S*d it.
It's going to take at least a week to get it back and that's a miserable prospect atm that's going to be a real test of resolve.

I do have a backup connection but it was just at the off, it was a sprint and in the 20secs it takes me to swap over the damn thing was poised and cruising.
I've done more than my share of preaching on the topic but figuring out what the issue is, flipping the phone to hotspot mode and getting the pc to recognise it just takes time.
Does anyone here have a seemless fallback? I'd love to know how it's done.

Yeah, phone goes on to hotspot mode at the start of a session. Connect the pc/laptop to the router directly with an ethernet cable and then connect the wifi to the mobile hotspot. Windows will use the ethernet connection whilst it's live and switch to wifi automatically if connection drops. Any windows from 7 onwards will do that.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 7:16 pm.

a separate laptop with 3g connection on, ba loaded set at 5sec refresh and guardian that switches through the markets automatically. that will do for power cuts and software freezes as well. And if you install mouse without borders app you can control your pc and laptop with your mouse like an additional screen.ShaunWhite wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 7:16 pmI do have a backup connection but it was just at the off, it was a sprint and in the 20secs it takes me to swap over the damn thing was poised and cruising.

Have you ever done any tests for optimum tick target as opposed to trading out at post time? As i am sure many trades go much further than 1 tick during the time period of opening / closing the trade. But then again you would cut many other trades out from going their full potential. Just curious if you have done any tests on it.
Yes, I've test just about everything in the markets. It's related to the starting point of the favourite, with 2.00 being, logically, the most volatile.
In non-trending markets, it makes a lot of sense to set an optimal out point.

What about if the fav shortens & no runner is drifts - worth thinking aboutRonObvious wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2017 3:25 pmWould it be right to assume then that in markets where no other runner is being backed that the fav will be backed in most of the time?

That cant happen though can it? My understanding is that if something is being backed then something has to drift?
