Tour De France 2018
I would watch every stage from start to finish if I had the time. The flat stages are just a build up towards the mountains.Korattt wrote: ↑Sun Jul 22, 2018 4:41 pmjust come down from trading & missus is watching the TDF, fair enough she enjoys watching it but for me it’s one of the most boring sports to watch ever, ok it’s hard work to participate but what’s there to watch?, you see one cyclist over take another you’ve seen them all, ditto with collisions

Question for Halliday/Dallas:
When you trade the TDF or other cycling event, how do you approach it? Would you do a B2L or L2B at the start on selected riders or just trade what you see on each individual stage?
Do you have any sites you use for stats?

I have tried B2L a few times in the past but never got any real pay off from it

Bit of a generalisation me thinks, but I suspect you know very little about the sport ( similar to your self confessed lack of understanding of horse racing ?) .Like most sports it can have it monotonous moments , but if you’ve ever watched any of the spring classics, or the epic stage in this years Giro that Froome won , or rides by the likes of Cancellara and Contador, you might think differently .
Give it another try you might be pleasantly surprised.
Just a few links to some memorable moments .. might whet your appetite Korattt

Just one more day of mountains to go. I really hope Thomas comes through it fine, he has really surprised me this year, I thought sure he would have blown up by now. I wonder if the difference this year compared to all the other years is that he has been a protected rider and hasn't had to do any pulling at the front, or going back to the car for bottles etc.Bluesky wrote: ↑Wed Jul 18, 2018 8:51 pmGoing from memory alone, doesn't Thomas have at least one really bad day in the mountains on a 3 week tour? I seem to remember him blowing up in the 3rd week on more than one occasion in the past. Unless things are different this time, I think Froome is probably more likely to win out at the end.
I am currently reading The Tour According to G: My Journey to the Yellow JerseyBluesky wrote: ↑Thu Jul 26, 2018 6:49 pmJust one more day of mountains to go. I am about halfway through and it is an excellent read. I read Froome's book, The Climb, last year but enjoying this more. It gives a really enjoyable read about just the Tour. Feels like you are back there with him, hearing the tactics on the bus before the stage and what it was like to be the "2nd" rider, e.g. when all the riders turned on their air con in the hotel and it tripped the electric, only Froome was allowed it back on, G put his on anyway!
I would still recommend Froome's book though.
One of my next books to read is David Millar's The Racer: Life on the Road as a Pro Cyclist which is supposed to be another excellent book for giving you an idea of what it is like to be in the pack.
This was a decent podcast .. high production quality etc :

I know nothing etc, but always thought it interesting that the tour dope king, made an absolute bundle from crypto.
Without it, he would have struggled to pay back stuff.
Hope he declared it to the IRS.
