My excel skills are at a 1 at best on a scale of 1-10, so there is no point me even trying. If anyone is in the market for offering though, Im all ears!
I can imagine BF asked software providers not to provide it because they would be scared people would hedge the PC across the exchanges? However as I discussed with someone previously, there is always the chance that you get the hedge wrong and your winnings on b/f are even higher.
Betdaq live video
Freddy,
I have been racking my brains about how to compare two excel sheets, and whilst I can see a few "simple" ways to achieve this, none will be 1) Fast, 2) show "real" market prices without a time lag and 3) Without becoming a separate API subscriber.
Is this what you meant by simple? or am I over seeing something obvious?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Has any one else been having issues with accessing the Betdaq Live Video recently?
It used to be available 5 mins before the off for me regardless if I had placed a bet or not.
Now most of the time it just comes up saying:
'Video unavailable - sorry but your account does not currently qualify to watch this race. Please place a bet to watch this race.'
But even if I have placed a bet it comes up with this message then at some random point seemingly, quite close to the off, I can eventually get it to load with pictures.
Any one got any ideas?

Yes I noticed this earlier in the week. It seems you do have to have a matched bet to watch. I have noticed that if you scratch before the off it doesn't count, so you need to have an open position whilst going in play.
I queried the video stream with Betdaq last week and they sent back this reply,
"Thank you for your email regarding the recent change in our streaming service. Unfortunately this is a policy change however it is a decision that has been made for us rather than by us.
We are obliged by the stream's suppliers to enforce the 'bet placement' rule on our video streaming service, which for a period of time had not been enforced. As per the existing terms of conditions on BETDAQ, members must log on and place a bet in order to view races with the TV icon."

Has anyone tried linking or consolidating the Excel workbooks?

I have, created a master spreadsheet that had prices being fed from betdaq and betfair. It worked but I was too slow, there are people out there who are doing the same but with the betdaq and betfair api that are quick.
I am sure there is an edge in running a HFT strategy across the two exchanges but not sure if there is enough real money on betdaq to make it worthwhile.

Hi Linus
I think for two exchanges its probably difficult if the same market makers are running them. If it was 3 markets then it would probably be easier. However the last time that happened as far as I'm aware, smarkets had to ban the lads account at the request of their market makers. Their is a thread about it somewhere on here I think in regards to smarkets

Thanks for that, that was pretty much the conclusion I came to. I found that before you click on the live video button for the race you need to have an open position.Deeppockets wrote:Yes I noticed this earlier in the week. It will then load up and remain watchable even if you then go and scratch your position afterwards.
The key is not to open the video before opening a position as that seems to screw it up a bit and make it reluctant to load even if you then have an open position.
A pain but seemingly nothing Betdaq can do about it but I did like being able to load the video as soon as I switched to the market and then I could concentrate on trading rather than looking to open a position then open the video then go back to trading. If the race is off say in less than a minute it can waste valuable time.
